the Iconic eyewear brand
Founder Hyman Moscot started the iconic eyewear brand selling ready-made eyeglasses out of a push-cart on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in 1889. After amassing a base of loyal customers Mr. Moscot opened his first retail store in 1915. Hyman’s son Sol then joined the company in 1925 and would eventually re-open the business on Orchard street, where it began and would remain home for the next 8 decades.
Still a family-run New York institution, today’s Moscot infuses downtown aesthetics with it’s over 100 years of collective eyewear experience. A global community, built on neighbourhood values, the brand now has stores across America, The UK, Italy, France, Japan, South Korea & The Netherlands.
moscot originals collection
Moscot offers two collections; The Originals and the Spirit collection. The Originals which includes The Lemtosh, The Shindig and The Momza is based on styles from the Moscot family archives from 1930 – 1980. This collection celebrates the timeless and classic looks of decades past by retaining the authenticity of the original frame styles and using colours that precisely duplicate the true old-school shapes and colours first fabricated by the company in the 1940’s.
moscot spirit collection
The Spirit collection departs from the traditions of the Originals collection and offers more fashion-forward and contemporary styles. Made up of styles such as The Les and featuring the companies distinct colour palette and signature metal end caps, the Spirit collection remains true to the brands DNA through its quality materials, period details and real hardware that ensures the sturdiest possible construction.
