THE impala
A weekend staple with a military history
Originally designed for the humid climates of World War 2 and later adapted by Yves Saint Laurent in the 1960’s, our Safari Jacket silhouette is more natural and relaxed with a moderate taper through the midsection. The collar, cuffs and belted waist work together harmoniously to elevate this piece from a casual jacket such as a bomber, but not so far as to feel like a suit jacket or blazer.
The Impala Safari Jacket is built from 39 individual parts and requiring 2 weeks to craft this garment has no structure or added stiffness. The jackets sleeves are attached using a traditional Neapolitan method which creates more room for the upper arm. This combines with the hand sewn box pleat at the upper back to ensure ample comfort and ease of movement while worn. The belted waist can be synched in for added shape, or removed for increased comfort.
The IMPALA comes in multiple fabric options, of which we have carefully selected based on our customer’s climate and lifestyle. Dusty green linen plays into the rugged nature of the piece, while Seersucker cotton options provide an element of intrigue within the garments fabric through the springy, raised texture of the cloth.
Our Safari Jacket was designed for relaxed, weekend oriented outfits and is light and extremely easy to wear. This garment is best paired with T-shirts, polos and sweaters.
