The OBSIDIAN HUME; A Marriage of texture and tonality
In the same manner that the waves of the harbour flow into the sharp edges of the city pier, the dynamic fabric used for the Obsidian HUME weaves and dives throughout the garment, ending only at the clean, uninterrupted seams.
Born out of the classic evening wear silhouette created for the British Prince of Wales, this formal jacket reflects the original intention of such a garment; A formal, tasteful piece, designed with late evening comfort in mind all while projecting a modern attitude.
The design process for this piece was one of reduction and minimisation. The simple formula is the cleaner and more subdued a garments design features are, the more important the fabrics texture becomes.
The beautiful fabric used in this piece was woven in Italy using a weaving technique that creates a distinct texture closely resembling that of a reptile’s skin or scales. This smooth, natural texture is balanced perfectly by the rich colour tone, ensuring the raised weave is a feature of the garment noticed only when up close, and not at a distance.
HUME OBSIDIAN BLACK
The structure and rigidity within this piece has been kept to a minimum. This is to ensure the ability to wear it comfortably, late in the evening while still feeling elegant. To achieve this level of comfort and wearability, this jacket is built around a lightweight, German-made canvas and features no shoulder padding.
This formal jacket should be worn with black and white separates and tasteful accessories. Look for cufflinks, either in gold if you have a warmer skin tone, or silver if you have fairer skin, to add depth to your outfit. Shine your best black lace-up shoes and then compliment the look with a smooth silk satin bow tie.
The HUME in Obsidian Black Jacquard is available in limited run made to measure or in set sizes. It requires 3 weeks to be made.
